Inspiring our community, raising awareness, and increasing pollinator habitat through garden certification.
Urban spaces comprised of impervious surfaces and grass lawns are deserts for pollinators. As more land becomes developed, our faithful pollen-transferring companions are finding themselves in dire need of habitat. Considering that one third of our food and over three fourths of wild plants depend on pollinators, this issue deserves full attention. Anyone with even the smallest property can help bolster native pollinator populations by planting native plants. This garden certification program aims to inspire the creation of new habitat, inform our community of best practices for creating habitat, celebrate those who have already done so, and shift the paradigm away from desert lawns.
