Milkweed Planting Day
June 5, 2021 @ 10:00AM — 2:00PM Eastern Time (US & Canada)
Plant milkweed with us on the Hominy Creek Greenway
We've received a generous donation of Milkweed - help us add 500 plants to the Hominy Creek Greenway! Milkweed is a critical plant for the support of Monarch butterflies. It is a host plant for egg laying, a source of food for young caterpillars, and a nectar source for migrating adults.
Meet at the Shelburne Rd entrance to the Hominy Creek Greenway. Dress to work outside, potentially in contact with brushy, thorny vegetation or poison ivy. Wear long pants, closed toed shoes, and sun protection. Bring water, snacks, and any other personal items needed. All other tools and gear will be provided.
Volunteers under 14 permitted to work with adult supervision. 14-17 may work unsupervised with a minor waiver. All volunteers will be required to wear a mask upon arrival when signing in, getting gear, and when within 6 feet of other volunteers. All unvaccinated volunteers are required to wear a mask for the entirety of the project.
