Join Hemlock Restoration Initiative Director, Margot Wallston, and Asheville GreenWorks for a hike to explore the NC Arboretum.

We will meet in the upper end of the large parking lot (closest to the education center) and then carpool to enjoy the Bent Creek Trail, a route that is less than 1.5 miles on fairly easy terrain, mostly gravel roads. Participants are welcome to arrive early or stay after to continue to enjoy the arboretum on their own. Buildings close at 5pm, but the grounds are open until 9pm (no more entries after 8pm).
On the walk we will talk about the role of hemlocks in our urban forests, point out hemlock woolly adelgid and discuss how it is impacting individual trees and entire ecosystems, and share our plans for working with the Arboretum to implement an integrated pest management plan to help maintain and restore the health of the hemlocks on the property.
This hike is free for all participants, but pre-registration is required as space is limited. You will be given a code to allow free entrance to the Arboretum.
