Awards and Trashion Show guests will be treated to an Oscar-like evening of awards and fashion inspired by a love for our local environment.
Asheville GreenWorks will host the 2019 Environmental Awards and Trashion Show on Saturday, April 27, 2019 at 6 pm. The event will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Asheville-Biltmore at 115 Hendersonville Road in Asheville, NC 28803.
The Trashion Show adds a fun twist to the Environmental Awards event presented annually by GreenWorks to honor local individuals, organizations, businesses and schools making a difference for our environment. In last year's first-ever trashion show, over 20 local designers and artists throughout Asheville came together to create one of a kind wearable fashions made from items headed to the landfill or recycling facility, or that have served their purpose and reached the end of their life.
For over 30 years, GreenWorks has presented Environmental Excellence Awards to honor leaders in the local environmental and sustainability field. A committee comprised of representatives from MountainTrue, Riverlink, the Green Built Alliance and the Sierra Club selects the awardees in categories including Youth, Education, Community Partner and Business. The Susan B. Roderick Lifetime Achievement Award goes to an individual who has demonstrated a long-term commitment to environmental conservation.
Tiered ticket pricing that works for all budgets ($40 GA members / $50 GA non-members / $75 VIP) will go to support GreenWorks' critical programming in the areas of litter prevention, waste reduction, and increasing urban greenspaces. Organizations wishing to sponsor the event can contact Megan Travi at (828) 254-1776 or email@example.com.
Established in 1973, Asheville GreenWorks inspires, equips and mobilizes individuals and communities to take care of the places we love to live. With thousands of volunteers, GreenWorks engages the community in grassroots projects including tree plantings, urban agriculture, environmental cleanups, anti-litter and waste reduction education, creation of green spaces, and preservation of Asheville's rivers and trees. The Youth Environmental Leadership Program works to usher in a new generation of environmental warriors for our community. Asheville GreenWorks remains the most active volunteer environmental organization in Western North Carolina.
